Frank Comments: The cover picture makes me think of folks bringing knives to a gun fight, but isn’t exactly a situation from the story, although you can see the characters there: the antagonist, the girl, the adventurer, and some of the nameless drug addicts who do the antagonist’s dirty work.

Jon H Comments: This one caught me off guard, I thought it was just your typical WW 2 book, maybe a little on the Sgt Rock side of reality but then I noticed the monkey and realized it said WW3. Well…I still don’t understand what the monkey is doing. I’m guess it is a part of some para-military group. “If you need help, and you can find them, maybe you can hire…ooh ooh ah ah AH AAAH!!”

Frank Comments: This is clearly of the 1970s, a fantasy warrior knife-fighting pose, but in disco dress, with zodiac symbols in the background. And big bugs! Seriously, I looked at it to see if it was an update of “The Radio Man” for the Disco Years. It wasn’t.

Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: Man climbing stairs to heaven, a grandfather clock with an axe for a pendulum. I think there is only one way I can improve this masterpiece… it has to shine… and I mean literally! Get the silver glossy shiny cover people on the phone, I’ve got another one for them to perfect!
Published 1992 (maybe)

Sara Comments: Here I am, just stepped out of my mecha-techno, time-traveling, chrome, orb-y…thing. The only drawback is that it destroys all clothes that are not right gloves or right boots. Swords are not clothes so they’re all right, too. Also it makes weird shadows stick to you. Wait, am I floating above a strange river?

Frank Comments: Another work re-issued with new title and new cover. There was a previous publication of it as “The Radio Man” in 1924.

Daniel Comments: Bought this gem in an second-hand bookshop last year. I was slightly embarrassed taking it up to the counter. It’s rubbish on a number of levels: it’s a literally awful bit of artwork; it’s artwork that bears pretty much no relation to the story; and said story is a sombre dystopian yarn by Christopher Priest, a renowned purveyor of genre-crossing, award-winning novels that have more recently been reprinted by Gollanz with classy covers.

Happy New Year!
And so the world has spun, strutted and wobbled its way around the sun yet again! We’ve come through ruff storms, predictions of the end of the world and a lot of superhero movies. This leaves us though with one eternal question, will anyone find a cover to top I Sing The Body Electric!?! It certainly doesn’t look like it! But who knows, who knows eh? I am sure the year ahead will be full of wondrous treasures!
Thanks to everyone for sending in all the covers we’ve posted over the year! And thanks to everyone who leaves a comment. Oh they do make me laugh! Ah ha ha ha ha… ha!
