Another long weekend to celebrate the UK’s closing of banks! That can only mean one thing here at Good Show Sir… Honourable Mentions! Today we have a nice selection of franchise books that would be otherwise excluded by our iron forged rules.
Hope you enjoy these, I’ve even thrown in a special something at the end. Enjoy your long weekend if you get it and remember, books rule! Support your local bookery.
Another bank holiday approaches for those in the UK! And also something about celebrating some sort of zombie vampire’s diamond jubilee… so I hear. So we might be taking a break until Wednesday while we sharpen our stakes and resurrect Peter Cushing to stop the foul beast!
So for our honourable mentions we have a collection of books about J. R. R. Tolkien and one about C. S. Lewis. These are simply fantastic and have all been sent in by Missie Kay so a big thanks to her!
Enjoy the covers and if you are benefiting from a long weekend, like me, I hope you enjoy it!
Here we are again! It’s been a while for the old honourable mentions but it’s come to that time of year when a can of irn-bru and chocolate is considered an acceptable breakfast!
So if you are having a weekend off I hope you enjoy it and if not… well enjoy these covers that don’t quite make our high standards but we think deserve a special mention.
Stripey Baz Comments: I’m no purveyor of romance novels or indeed Norwegian literature, but I’m pretty sure that it’s not a good thing to have a mutton-chopped blaggard slap a fair maiden across her face. Given the angle that he’s standing at, his body must have twisted like one of those plastic toy action figures…
Completely stolen from the wonderful Awful Library Books, but because the top left is clearly a copy of Keith Parkinson’s Dragons of War, I thought it too good not to mention! Thanks to John for letting me know about it!
So I found this is in a touristy shop in the wonderful San Diego… paper dolls… what’s with that? Anyway, I had hours of fun recreating all my covers that day! Published 2010
Well, believe it or not Good Show Sir will be two years old today! And boy do we have a strange surprise for you all. We’ve gathered some of the best covers from over the past two years and made them into two separate montages of epicness! Epicness is a word, right?
Just want to thank everyone who has helped out, sent covers in and commented over our time here. Also a very special thanks to Sophaloaf for putting together our video collections!
It’s great to have made a place where people can come and enjoy these amazing pieces of art that grace our book covers, with a bit of laughter! I hope Good Show Sir has helped people appreciate their covers that little bit more and possibly notice great looks of confusion on public transport while reading one.
Firstly, we have our Quantum Collection – Quantum you ask? Hopefully the sound track will help you realise why.
Secondly, where would we be without the HUNKS of Sci-Fi and Fantasy? Watch, if you are ready!
Well it’s Christmas! And that means it’s time for us here at Good Show Sir to take a little break. We’ll be off all next week but back on the 1st January with a special look back at the years best.
So where would sci-fi be without Star Trek? We’d have slightly less hamming and a lot less terrible franchise novels to be fair. Here are some we picked up in a second hand store and they are just fantastic.
Well it’s quickly coming to the end of the summer and we are graced with a final bank holiday weekend, for some of us anyway. That means one thing, honourable mentions! It’s fun times again!
These mentions are special because they aren’t actually sci-fi or fantasy proving that strange and wonderful covers can make their way into other genres.
Thanks to everyone who visits the site! We do love sharing these wonderful books. Enjoy your long weekend, or your normal short one if you have to work on Monday!
Tom Comments: This book is neither fantasy nor sci-fi, but it still deserves submission for it’s title alone. It was so arresting that I snapped this pic when I spotted the book at my aunt’s house in 2004, long before Good Show Sir was extant! I feel that it must take at the very least a good deal of metrosexual courage to wear that jaunty red cap.
Ah May! How I love you with two bank holidays in one month and the final one falling on, my birthday. That’s right exciting stuff! So here to celebrate is a strange random collection of honourable mentions. And they are a random collection I assure you.
These covers break our well kept and hard hitting rules. There are some who even complain they are almost too hard. But these covers are generally excluded because they are part of a franchise or comedy.
Again thanks to everyone who visits the site and those who are submitting covers. Some of them are simply amazing, we’ll get to them eventually. Enjoy these great covers and to those who gain from it, have an amazing extended weekend!
Well it’s reached that time again were here in the UK we are blessed with bank holidays! So for those like myself who will be relaxing with an extra long weekend, here are some honourable mentions.
These covers break our explicit and hard kept rules, which are enforced with an iron fist. These are part of a franchise (this time of adventure choice novels), but nonetheless each of them sports an excellent cover so I hope you enjoy them.
Also just to say thanks to everyone who has been sending me in covers! We’ll slowly get through them all so keep an eye out and I promise they will appear at some stage.
Have a great weekend for those benefiting from it!
To face the evil rabbit turn to page 8 To run away turn to page 57
So, just wanted to do a little sum up of a few of the best covers we have posted and some personal favourites of the Good Show Sir staff. Just kidding, we don’t have staff, more like some sort of trained animal that has been taught how to sit correctly and not bite the children.
First, just a couple of thanks. To Justin Leego who faithfully does all the tags for the covers, finds out who the artist is and corrects any spelling/grammer errors I make about six hours after I post it. And to CSA, who endured an entire afternoon with me searching through the shelves of three second hand book shops over Christmas. We have quite the collection of covers to add to the site!
And thanks again to those who visit us here. We love to hear from anyone who comes along, so feel free to comment and you will be welcomed with sarcastic undertones!
