Good Show Sir’s Art Direction: OH NO! I forgot all about that bloody book cover… crap it’s due tomorrow. Oh man… WAIT… is your son still in that drama club? Great! We’ll head over, get some props, slap a wig on a skeleton and take a picture. It’s better than nothing… right?

Sara S Comments: This cover has everything. The cat-being is looking out at the reader as if to say, ‘How do you humans like it when we dangle something in front of YOU and then snatch it away, huh?’ The cherry on top of it all is the title artist who thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if the preposition ‘at’ didn’t line up with any of the other words on the cover?!

It’s another bank holiday weekend and that can only mean one thing for us here at Good Show Sir! Party time! Or possibly just the cinema and a few beers, which might be a party… to some people.
These covers have been sent in by the very excellent Saxy Stevenson who found them while in Nepal. Hope you enjoy them, as for the published dates… ummm can anyone here read Japanese?

Tat Wood Comments: it was published in 1970 and tells of all the different ways the Earth will end by 2000 AD (although one would be enough). As we are now a dozen years beyond the Best Before date does it now count as fiction? A bit? Sort of?

Laura Comments: I came across this book in a used book store and I was hoping that the badly-drawn tough old guys would fit on Good Show Sir.

Jaouad’s Art Direction: Let’s see… Pynchonesque, Burroughsian, Robert Anton Wilson-like… Oh, I know! Tim from Marketing has a girlfriend who does exotic dancing, right? See if you can get her to pose. Ask her to bring one of her pets. Yes, I know the author will want in on this… I’ll think of something.

Benjamin Comments: “Listen, if this book sells more than 30 copies it’ll be a miracle. It’s done up in a strawberry-ice-cream-pink cover with a bright green toy rocket ship and some cheap plaster busts of LBJ and JFK and a coke bottle and a hamburger on the front — I showed it to a classroom full of gifted children up at the College of Marin and one kid said ‘That’s a toy book.'” – Richard A. Scott B Comments: So we have a glowing underwater shark-riding, um, zombie Roman legionnaire? At least I assume he’s been zombified, or something. That’s a real death-stare he’s got going on there. Maybe he forgot he can’t actually breathe underwater?

Happy New Year!
And so the world has spun, strutted and wobbled its way around the sun yet again! We’ve come through ruff storms, predictions of the end of the world and a lot of superhero movies. This leaves us though with one eternal question, will anyone find a cover to top I Sing The Body Electric!?! It certainly doesn’t look like it! But who knows, who knows eh? I am sure the year ahead will be full of wondrous treasures!
Thanks to everyone for sending in all the covers we’ve posted over the year! And thanks to everyone who leaves a comment. Oh they do make me laugh! Ah ha ha ha ha… ha!
