OK, spinning my cover creator wheel again! We have… dragons, plural – nice! The dragons are (throwing my action dice)… shitting out fire, awesome! Hmm, they are also… (roll)… carrying… (spin)… a woman in a Persian rug, touch! And in the background this time we will have a….. pyramid… awww just like the books name!

We have here a trio of Honourable Mentions since these are e-books and technically not being photographed sitting in our sweaty hands. But the “publisher” Phoenix Pick informs us that you can own an actual dead-tree book version of the same. The odds are vanishingly small that any book versions of these titles would ever be found in what few book stores still exist. So let’s have our fun with these e-book pix nicked from the Intertubes. I see some vestige of an artist signature on one of these. Go figure. But none of my usual sources gives any hint who they might be. So Unknown Artist Institute it is.

Good Show Sir Comments:
1. He-man and Cat-in-the-Hat take on flaming Gummi-Bear monster.
2. Stop wearing the chamois, son. I’ve got to dry the car.
3. Don’t think you’re setting a foot outside wearing that strapping outfit!

This third hardcover reissue contains two novels written by a Hungarian author under English pseudonym. Writing fantasy and science fiction stories under English pen names was very popular in the 90s. And many readers really thought that these writers are from abroad.

Translating the Hungarian title to English was also a strange tradition in these books just like the English pen names for Hungarian writers. You can read inside that, A szellemlt, means, The Spiritseer. Hardcover.

Anne’s Art Direction: It’s a book of short stories by one of the most lyrical authors in the universe? I know, we’ll put a ripped blond naked guy on the front with something or other covering his nibbits. How about a tiger head? That sends the right sort of message, don’t you think? Then we’ll surround him with some dobermans for good measure. To top it off, we definitely need three different fonts but also distract everyone with an aurora border.
Published 1978
Many thanks to Anne!

You know what always bugged the hell out of me about the whole north verses south thing? No dragons or magic crystal orbs. The north frees the south of: dragons! Right there on the cover, with King Lincoln watching the battle on his orb! It almost makes me proud to be Americaglish… or whatever.
